American's Flagship FIrst Lounge at LAX

A week later I'm back at LAX to continue my CAI-HNL roundtrip saga.  Today it's a one day out and back same plane roundtrip to Honolulu.  No many people in the PreCheck lane at Terminal 4.

My first stop was the T4 Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge to check out the new Flagship Lounge.   The concourse level AAngel verified my BA Silver credentials and gave me a pass to the Flagship Lounge which occupies the old Admirals Club space.

The best part of the lounge in on the other side of the main lounge area towards the lavs and showers.

With a gallery of wonderful pics of celebs from the glory days.

And at the end of the hall, the new Flagship First Dining, reserved for 3 class First Class passengers.  Will try it out in a couple of weeks on my return to JFK, LHR and CAI.

June 2017

One of the best bargains on the past year was American's Seoul-NYC First Class "sale",  Round trip TPAC First Class on Japan Airlines and roundtrip transcon First Class on American, with stopover, all for $2,800.  I'm using my LAX-JFK segments tonight for my quarterly trip to Montreal.   Not much traffic to LAX this afternoon and I made the 59 mile trip from Orange County in an hour.

Even though I had my boarding pass, I used the The Flagship First Check-in which is reserved for International and JFK First Class passengers.

Pics from last month.   Comfy seating for those waiting for others and if by chance there was a queue to check in.

The Flagship greeter/porter escorted me to the elevator.  Like last month, not sure if he would have escorted me just to PreCheck or all the way to the lounge but I declined further assistance and thanked him.

Upstairs, once again there was absolutely no one in line at PreCheck.

The LAX Admirals Club and the Flagship Lounge are under renovation, with the temporary Flagship Lounge an utter embarrassment and not even close to being ready for prime time.

The entrance is the only part of the Lounge that seems finished.  Inside not much different from 6 weeks ago.

Although the monitors were plugged in and working tonight.

Really?

While AA is promising fine dining after the renovations are completed, they offer a weak serve yourself buffet.

And if anything looks good to you, you can eat in in the elegant Flagship First dining room.  LOL.

After my 5 minute spin around the lounge, I thanked the lounge staff and headed to TBIT and the Qantas First Class Lounge.

May 2017

With a use it or lose it First Class ticket to London from our Ireland trip, I couldn't just let it expire even if it was on American.  Mrs. SFO777?  Not so much.  So I'm off on a 48 hour hall pass taking one for the team by flying American.  But my consolation is a full day of the La Première experience on the return back to LAX.

The Flagship First Check-in is reserved for International and JFK First Class passengers.   Friendly Flagship staffer greeted me and escorted me inside the small but comfortable check-in lounge.

Where yet another pleasant Flagship agent checked my passport and reissued my boarding pass complete with DOCS CHECKED.    Comfy seating for those waiting for others and if by chance there was a queue to check in.   I was the only passenger at around 5:15pm and after asking permission, only took pics of the seating area.

The Flagship greeter/porter escorted me to the elevator.   Not sure if he would have escorted me just to PreCheck or all the way to the lounge but I declined further assistance and thanked him.  We shook hands and his wished me a pleasant flight.   Wow, a very nice (un-American) start to the trip.  Upstairs, there was absolutely no one in line at PreCheck.

The LAX Admirals Club and Flagship FIrst Lounge is being renovated but I wanted to see progress and how AA was treating its First Class passengers during construction.

OK, definitely a work in progress.

While the elevator(s) worked, I took the stairs.

Apparently American is planning a proper dining room with waitstaff service.  Sign says "Opening in 2017", but the Flagship AAngel hinted that it was more likely to be "Not Opening until 2018".

In the interim, yikes!

OK, and American wonders why it has a garbage premium reputation.  Wow.

Get me outta here, stat.  I thanked the AAngels and told them I was heading over to the Qantas Lounge.
