LHR - BA First Galleries Terminal 5

LHR - BA First Galleries Terminal 5
August 2019

We arrived on time and pulled into the B Gates...

... which meant a train ride to the main Terminal 5 A Gates.

After a quick stop for Fast Track security, I was in the main T5 concourse.

And a few minutes later, the Galleries First Class Lounge.

Meditation anyone. LOL.  BA will do and sell anything for a buck, or GBP in this case.

I'm partial to the Terrace and headed there for find a comfy spot to pass the next 2 hours.

Say what?  Looks like BA has also sold the Terrace for the summer.  LOL.

I lucked out and found a nice quiet seating area, with great views.

After a G&T, time for some dinner.

I checked out the serve yourself options...

Ugh...

The "Brought to Your Table" options looked a little better.

The Green Thai Chicken & Vegetable Curry was tasty.

At T-45, our gate was posted.  The good news is that we're at nearby Gate A17.

Mercifully, the A320neo seats were a lot more comfortable than the A321neo.

And great leg room with recline for the 45 minute flight.

September 2018

With a 7:10am flight this morning and not certain of transit times between T4 and T5, I left my room just before 5am.   And reversed my walk from last night...

To the bank of elevators down to the train.  Except that that button for that level didn't work.   As I found out later, since the first train doesn't depart until 5:10am or so, the train level is locked until just before that time.

And we walk...

Same old train as last night to Express Central where you connect to the nicer Heathrow Express to T5.

And up to the T5 departure level.

After another long walk to the opposite side the T5, First Class check-in.  As a One World Emerald (AA and BA), I can use First Class check in and lounges on any ticket, even my cheapo Basic Economy to Glasgow.

After a quick visit to First security, the corridor leads to the BA Galleries First Lounge.

Time for a little breakfast.

... out on the terrace.

Yeah, your typical lovely weather London morning.  LOL.

May 2018

Our Blacklane driver was waiting for us when we came down to the lobby at 9:30am.

Looks like a perfect week for Santorini.

With little Sunday morning traffic, we were at Terminal 5 in about 30 minutes.

One of the benefits of One World Emerald status is the use of First Class check-in anywhere in the One World system.   For all its warts and faults, First Class check in at Terminal 5 is quite nice.

A cool recent feature is First Class security directly from the check-in.  It was painless and quick this morning with only a handful of other passengers.   After security...

... down a corridor....

... directly into the First Galleries Lounge.

Nice views and plane-spotting.

First Galleries is large and mostly pleasant although a little dated and frayed at the edges.
