Off to Australia

Tonight it’s off to Melbourne and my first visit to the Australian Open.  It's a mostly Emirates trip with 24 hours of Emirates First Class to Dubai and then Jakarta.  But first up is a United red-eye from Denver to Newark to connect to the morning Emirates A380 from JFK to Dubai.

10:30pm is a great time to depart DIA, with TSA virtually empty.

With 30 minutes to boarding, time for a drink at Elway's.

Crazy the United serves a full meal on a 3 hour red-eye.  But I took one for the team and the photo op.  I may have been the only one eating.  lol

I dozed off uncomfortably for a while and then we're on approach to Newark.

Since I'm on paid Emirates ticket (roundtrip that begin in Jakarta last September), I'm entitled to complimentary Chauffeur service to JFK.  Although Emirates wouldn't pick me up at the terminal, so I had to use the Airport Marriott as my pickup point.  Kudos on the very easy instructions and interactive shuttle locator.  

My driver was early for my requested 6:25am pick up, so we headed off to JFK pre-dawn and before most of the commute traffic.
