Thai Airways First Class Bangkok to Tokyo

My 24 hour trek home to Denver begins with Thai Airways gorgeous new First Class 77W Suites from Bangkok to Tokyo Narita. Wonderful Thai service once on board but on the ground, just miserable. Challenged check-in, no escort to the lounge and clueless service in the disappointing new First Class Lounge, a far cry from the wonderful old First Class Lounge. In the air, stellar service with a major inprovement in meal options from a year ago. My bento box breakfast was absolutely superb.

Very nice First Class Check-in area.... usually.

Except not today, as three other First Class passengers brought an entourage of a dozen each with multiple bags to check.

The result was chaos as I let nature takes its course and waited 20 minutes. By that time, the "escorts" had disappeared escorting the supposed celebrities to the lounge. The extent of my escort service was pointing me to security. LOL.

No a big deal since I was here last year.

LOL. The only ones wearing masks were staff.

Pleasant First Class Lounge section but sadly a major downgrade from the old pre-Covid First Class Lounge.

As was the quality of the staff.

Time for breakfast.

The Shrimp Won Ton Soup was very good.

And I loved the Patongo.

As the gate was nearby, I decided to forgo the "escort service" since I wanted to board first and since no one in the lounge could understand the concept. LOL.

The first of a few glassed of lovely Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle at the gate.

Today's menu and a major improvement over the limited offerings on this flight a year ago.

One of the pseudo-celebrities that Thai staff was fawning over.

Free Wifi typically means useless Wifi as was the case today.

Then to sleep for a couple of hours.

Beautiful day on approach to Narita.

Once in the air, Thai First Class was wonderful. Delicious food and flawless service from an outsanding crew.

Singapore Airlines First Class Tokyo Narita to Los Angeles

What a treat today on my flight to LAX as I enjoyed one of the best Singapore First flights in years. Wonderful inflight service and much better SQ wine offerings than recent flights. The signature SQ satay was as good as ever. Caviar, soup and Book The Cook Lobster Thermidor were delicious. After nearly 5 hours of sleep, I enjoyed another Book The Cook feature, a different version of a Singapore hawker market fave… Chicken Rice.

The always seemingly challenged NRT gate podium. Today First Class was invited to board first although I waited just a but to make that we were pounced on for the usual stupid pre-US secondary security check.

Even if a little dated, still a gorgeous 4 seat First Class cabin.

Once in the air, a great Comtes vs. Krug taste test.

Cream of mushroom soup was excellent.

Major upgrade in SQ First wines and an enjoyable Bordeaux taste test.

Book the Book Lobster Thermidor.

Comfy bed and a 4 hour sleep.

Cool views as we take off.

Excellent service although I passed on dinner and started to dry out with water only. LOL.

Cool United ride for some GS member to a connecting flight.

What a fun 4 day whirlwind trip to Bangkok and back. Thanks for folllowing along.

P/S Private Suite at LAX round 2

P/S Privte Suite at LAX for round 2

Four days later, I’m back at my LAX home… PS at LAX, the Private Suite terminal at LAX and the ultimate way to avoid the mess that is LAX. My PS rep met me just after the jet bridge at my arriving Singapore Airlines flight, and escorted me down the jet bridge stairs to my private limo across the tarmac to the PS terminal for private CBP passport and immigration clearance. Wow, how painless. Enjoyed a couple of hours outside in the garden on a gorgeous SoCal afternoon. Then private TSA and off to a waiting limo for the drive around the LAX tarmac to my United Flight to Denver.
